I have had a Green-tailed Towhee visiting my backyard for the last week, which is exciting. It is a new first, until now I have had to go up one of the canyons to see them, so having one in my yard has been nice. Though not very cooperative about having his picture taken I have managed a few less than wonderful shots.

May 2010 Bird of the Month Snowy Egret
I have selected the elegant Snowy Egret as the Bird of the Month for May. One of my favorite birds for many reasons, firsts and foremost their appearance each spring is a sure sign that warmer weather is on it's way. They are so beautiful to look at and they take on different appearance just by the way they stand. The bird with the Golden Slippers the Snowy Egret.

- Medium-sized, slender all-white heron.
- Black legs and yellow feet.
- Long thin neck, bill, and legs.
- Bill dark.
