I taught a Bird Study Merit Badge class this morning at Farmington Bay to a great group of Boy Scouts. Here is a list of the birds we saw and a few photos.



Northern Harrier, Western Meadow Lark, American Goldfinch, White-crowned Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Ring-billed Gull, California Gull, Great Blue Heron, Green-winged Teal, Cinnamon Teal, Mallard, American Coot, Western Grebe, Pied-billed Grebe, Gadwall, Northern Shoveler, Belted King Fisher, Canada Goose, European Starling, Marsh Wren (heard only), Red-tailed Hawk, Greater Yellow-legs, We also saw a beaver, and a garter snake.

Northern Pintail


Fall is here and Waterfowl migration is going strong. I will be posting my bird sightings on this blog along with pictures of the cooperative birds.
