Backyard Birds

There has been an unusually large number of Western Tanagers reported visiting backyards in Northern Utah this spring. I had never gotten a picture of one before so I spent some time last night and this evening patiently waiting for one to come in close enough and stay still long enough to get a picture. Not only did I get a few pictures of Tanagers but I got some bonus new yard birds as well. I have seen Western Tanagers in my yard several times in the past but this evening while waiting I was able to get Brown-headed Cowbird and Warbling Vireo though I have seen them several times each in the past this is first time I have seen these two species in my yard. I also had a wonderful time watching all the usual visitors.
Western Tanager
Brown-headed Cowbird
Warbling Vireo
Hammond's Flycatcher
Western Scrub Jay
American Robin
House Finch
House Finch and House Sparrow
Eurasian Collared Dove
Some other birds that came but I didn't get a picture of:
Downy Woodpecker
Mourning Dove
European Starling

Very cool stuff, Steve - take it easy with that Canon, though ;)

Wow! These pictures are fabulous! You've got an excellent eye Steve! I shoot people with a "Canon" and I thought they were tough! Your observations and patience are extraordinary!
